Britney Spears (39 years old) has been under guardianship since 2008, which is a legal notion in which a judge grants a person or an organization decision-making authority over another person, both personally and financially, because the latter is deemed incapable of making her own decisions.

In June 2021, the soloist requested to be released from her father’s tutelage, which she had been under for 13 years (69 years old). The judge first turned down Britney’s request. Jamie was later removed from his position as the artist’s instructor. Businessman John Zabel will be the singer’s temporary mentor by the end of the year.
“As a guardian and a father, Mr. Spears attempted for 13 years to do what was in Britney’s best interest. (…) With all due respect, the court erred in suspending Mr. Spears in favor of a foreigner,” Jamie’s attorney stated.
