With family all around the country making Christmas plans ahead of time, deciding who to spend the holidays with can be challenging.
According to a book recording the couple’s relationship, the difficulty is the same for everyone, no matter who they are. Prince William and Kate Middleton demonstrated this in 2006.
Prince William was expected to spend Christmas with the royals at Sandringham, as is customary, and then travel to meet Kate for New Year’s Eve with the Middletons.

However, according to the book, Kate was left in tears when William canceled his plans at the last minute, leaving her fearful for their relationship’s future, as reported by Mirror Online.
In her book The Making of a Royal Romance, published in 2011, royal author Katie Nicholl alleges William promised Kate he would join her family but instead chose to stay with his own, informing her over the phone on Boxing Day.
Despite Katie’s claim that the decision was “no big thing,” Kate had “cause to be concerned.”
Katie continues: “William was having second thoughts about marrying Kate and met down with his father and grandmother to explore his options. Both of them cautioned him not to rush into anything.”
Kate and William separated up a few weeks later in 2007, and sources later said the Queen was unhappy by the break-up.
Kate was later seen out and about on the town, and she even showed off a self-help book called Love Is Not Enough: A Smart Woman’s Guide To Keeping (And Making) Money in her handbag.
However, the breakup appeared to be short-lived, as William and Kate were seen kissing at an army celebration at a barracks in Bovington, Dorset, a few weeks later.
In July 2007, Kate and her brother James attended the Concert for Diana, which was staged at Wembley to commemorate the tenth anniversary of William’s mother’s death.

Kate moved into William’s Clarence House flat, where he would return from military duty on Friday nights for pleasant weekends together – and the rest, as they say, is history.
It is unknown where William and Kate will spend Christmas with their children George, Charlotte, and Louis this year.
However, the Queen has informed her family that she will once again host Christmas at Sandringham this year.
After missing out last year due to the epidemic, the monarch is believed to be “absolutely devoted” to entertaining her loved ones at her Norfolk estate.
Following an overnight stay in the hospital, Her Majesty, 95, has been ordered to keep to “light, desk-based duties” and has cancelled any working visits until mid-November.
According to royal sources, she is determined to heal quickly so she can see her family at their annual holiday celebration.
“This year, more than ever, it is vitally essential to Her Majesty to be surrounded by her loved ones,” a royal insider said.
“The Queen is fully dedicated to welcoming everyone while she recovers from her illness in the coming weeks.”
