Jerry Lynn lived for more than a decade with a strange sound coming from the walls every 10 minutes. What was there?

Jerry and Sylvia Lynn’s torment began when Jerry wanted, 13 years ago, to make a hole for cable TV in their home in Township, Pennsylvania. Not sure where to make the hole, the man came up with the idea of tying the watch to a piece of string and lowering it down a two-story ventilation to listen to the sound, so, he thought, he would figure out where to make the hole…

Jerry explained that he scheduled the alarm to go off every 10 minutes, to give him time to walk upstairs and listen to the wall. But his plan quickly turned from a seemingly clever, disastrous one: the clock hadn’t been set properly, so it fell. Jerry says now: “I thought it wouldn’t be a problem, but it still starts every 10 minutes!”

Then the man hoped that the battery would run out in three or four months, but the clock is just as strong today, 13 years later. (This is probably what people mean when they talk about “Swiss precision”)

This incident took place in September 2004, since then during the day, the clock strikes every 10 minutes until 8 o’clock. Sylvia says that the clock sometimes puts visitors in a more agitated state because the “beep” is heard from getting stronger. But the two say they are already used to it.

Jerry admits that he probably had to cut the wall to make up for the lost watch, but says he would now be missing the regular sound.
