You might want to grab some tissues before watching this groom dance with his mother who is in the final stages of ALS.
Anthony “Scooter” Hightower, also known as the groom, is a kind and generous giant, and Terri is his stunningly beautiful mother. Additionally, their sweet moments spent together on the dance floor at his reception will leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling in your chest.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative condition that affects nerve cells in both the brain and the spinal cord. The disease is named after Lou Gehrig, who was one of the first people diagnosed with the condition. In its more extreme phases, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) can lead patients to lose the capacity to eat, speak, move, and even breathe on their own. It is, in every sense of the word, a devastating illness.
Scooter pays the deepest possible tribute to his mother in the video that was shared by Terri’s family after her demise. He does so in the most loving way possible. A mother-son dance is a tradition that the groom often includes in his wedding receptions as a way to show his appreciation for his mother.
Before they give their baby boy to another family, all mothers who have sons look forward to participating in a ritual dance that is uniquely theirs. That most certainly must have been the case for Terri, and Scooter was the one who made it possible.
The final dance of the wedding features the groom and his mother.
Scooter brings his mother to the center of the dance floor on his wheeled skateboard. He is able to extricate his elderly mother from the wheelchair with the assistance of his father, and he cradles her in his arms. Scooter moves slowly to the music, safely holding his mother and crying on her shoulder at the same time. At the same time, he is both a powerful guardian and a sorrowful, small boy.
Nobody in the bride’s family or any of her acquaintances can contain their emotions as they watch the groom dance with his mother. This is a touching time in history. Our ability to comprehend the feelings that Terri and Scooter, their family and friends, and the other attendees at the reception must be severely limited.
Two things can always be relied on. Terri was an excellent teacher, and she was also an excellent mother to her kid.
As soon as the music stops, Scooter walks his mother back to her wheelchair in a very careful manner. Terri is showered with love and support from the other visitors, who applaud and surround her. Ten days after the wedding, Terri passed away at the age of 59, having successfully brought up a decent guy. We have no doubt that Terri is free to dance without restriction right now.
This film was given by Terri’s family in the hopes that it may educate others about amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
