Tarzan actor, Joe Lara, and his wife died. He was 58 years old and was the victim of a terrible accident

A small plane carrying Lara crashed into a lake in Tennessee, according to local authorities and the Associated Press. Joe Lara was 58 years old.

His wife, the author and founder of a diet program, Gwen Lara, was on the plane with five other people. Authorities said there were no survivors of the crash.

The small plane, a Cessna C501, crashed in Lake Percy Priest near Smyrna, Tennessee, after taking off on Saturday at about 11 a.m., the Federal Aviation Administration said. The plane was heading to Florida’s Palm Beach International Airport.

Born in San Diego, California, on October 2, 1962, Lara is best known for her role as Tarzan in the 1989 CBS film “Tarzan in Manhattan” and her 1996-1997 series Tarzan: The Epic Adventures.

Lara has also appeared in the action films “American Cyborg: Steel Warrior” (1993), “Steel Frontier” (1995), “Warhead” (1996), “Armstrong” (1998), and “Doomsdayer” (2000).

He switched from acting to country music in the early 2000s, releasing the album “Joe Lara: The Cry of Freedom” in 2009.
