Many people who want to lose weight resort to all sorts of dietary supplements that are more dubious, without seeking medical advice.
Matthew Whitby of Australia is one of the men who hoped to lose weight by using two well-known supplements for burning fat.
But not long after, he ended up in need of a liver transplant, and the doctors told him he only had a few weeks to live.
All the man wanted was to lose weight and tone up, so after a few online searches, the man came across some food supplements that he thought were good. Unfortunately, only a week later, the man began to feel physically exhausted, a symptom due to his jaundice.
He did not consult a doctor until 2 months after the illness and it was already too late, the doctor establishing the diagnosis of liver failure. A liver transplant was needed, but unfortunately the donor’s liver was later found to be infected with the hepatitis B virus.

Whitby is married, has two children, and says how lucky he is to be still alive:
“My life now depends on drug treatments, but I’m glad I got away with it.”
Here are the supplements that almost put him in the grave:
The first was a protein powder with concentrated green tea extract. The second, a supplement containing 70% garcinia cambogia. Doctors believe that green tea extract is the main culprit for a man’s illness, although garcinia cambogia is also known for its potential to trigger the liver disease.
Now, this father of two wants to share his experience with as many people as possible to warn them about the risks of using these dangerous supplements.
“I never thought that a free product that you can easily buy on the internet could hurt me so much. I don’t want anyone to go through what I went through. Get well informed and always consult a doctor before buying any such products. I would not recommend herbal medicines and plants in their natural state combined with a healthy diet and exercise, “says Matthew Whitby.
Green tea extract can cause liver damage when consumed in large quantities. In small doses, it is healthy for the body, but in excess it can cause many serious problems.
Doctors recommend that you stop buying food supplements without their consent or their specialized recommendation because they can be fatal if you do not administer them correctly.
Pass on this important information to your friends to prevent such unpleasant experiences among those who resort to such a thing.
