Tammy Gonzales was 17 weeks pregnant when she went to her doctor for an ultrasound. She was not a little surprised when an image appeared on the monitor in which it seemed that her fetus was making a balloon.
At first, she thought it was nice, but later she found out some bad news: the balloon was actually an extremely rare tumor, called a teratoma, which endangered the baby’s life.
At that moment, the doctor gave the woman three options: either have an abortion, or continue with the pregnancy and with a very high risk of the fetus dying at birth, or have an intrauterine operation that had not been performed before.
The woman chose the latter option, although the risks were extremely high. Fortunately, everything ended well. The intervention was a success and the little girl was born perfectly healthy.
