Princess Diana kept a very important secret from her ex-husband, Prince Charles when she was pregnant with Prince Harry. The truth was revealed by the royal biographer Andrew Morton.
The Princess of Hearts, as Diana was called, knew what sex the baby she was expecting would have, but she completely refused to tell Charles. Diana and the Prince of Wales became parents for the first time on June 21, 1982, less than a year after their wedding. Two years later, Princess Diana was pregnant again but kept the sex of the baby she was carrying in her womb a secret. Why? Because of her husband, who desperately wanted a little girl, says Andrew Morton.
“I knew Harry was going to be a boy because I saw him on ultrasound. Charles always wanted a girl. He wanted two children and wanted a little girl. I knew Harry was a boy and I didn’t tell him, “Diana told the biographer, according to The Mirror.
When Prince Harry was born on September 15, 1984, Morton says that the Princess told him that Charles’s reaction was not one of enthusiasm, although she was delighted with the new member of the family. The first comment the Prince of Wales would have made when he saw Harry was, “Oh, my God, he’s a boy,” followed by “and he has red hair.”
It seems that Charles had the same opinion until Harry’s baptism, when he said to his mother-in-law, “We were so disappointed – I thought she would be a girl.”
“Mommy woke him up to reality by saying, ‘You should realize how lucky you are to have a normal baby,'” Lady Di said. “Things have calmed down since that day, and that’s what he does when someone answers him,” said Princess Diana. The royal couple divorced in 1996, less than a year after Diana spoke in a televised interview about her husband’s infidelities. In 1997, the Princess’ life was abruptly ended in a car accident in Paris.
