Grandparents who help raise grandchildren live longer – according to a new study.

Everyone wants to enjoy life as long and happy as possible. We do this in many ways, such as eating healthy, exercising, or calling a friend from time to time for a healthy portion of laughter. Some people trust organic eating, while others do yoga.

But there is an even more fun way to extend your life. Grandparents, stay tuned!

Happy and healthy
If you are already a grandparent and take care of your grandchildren, chances are you will do so for the funny things children say and do, but especially because you like to see them running excitedly when they see you again. Get used to taking them to wonderful places where they can enjoy a lot of fun.

It’s a great way to get to know the youngest members of the family. But did you know that spending time with your grandchildren can help you live longer?

This is not what we are saying, but a study recently published in the journal Evolution and Human Behavior. The researchers examined data from the “Berlin Aging Study,” conducted on a sample of 500 people over the age of 70. Participants completed questionnaires and participated in medical investigations every two years between 1990 and 2009.

It has been observed that in the period of almost 20 years, the risk of death was one-third lower in the case of the elderly who contributed to the growth of their grandchildren compared to those who did not. Raising children can really prolong life!

It is important to note that grandparents who cared for their grandchildren were not included in this study.

Dr. Ronan Factora, a doctor at the famous Cleveland Clinic, said:

“There is a close link between helping and reducing stress. If caring for grandchildren is one way we can effectively reduce stress, then this activity should benefit people who are grandparents and who provide this care. ”

The doctor then went on to remind us of the need to maintain physical activity as we age, as well as how important it is to remain socially involved and cognitively stimulated as we age.

While many who are grandparents may no longer work, they still want to find a job and feel useful in society. And raising grandchildren is a great way to do that!

The good news doesn’t stop there. A study conducted in Australia concluded that only a moderate amount of time spent around grandchildren could help prevent Alzheimer’s disease. This is also possible due to the fact that the activity of caring for grandchildren increases the activity of the brain, drastically decreasing the chances of developing depression.

However, it is important not to overdo it. Find a balance between your normal life and your time with your grandchildren. You may be devoting too much energy to the cause, which will eventually make you feel tired.

So the next time your grandchildren want to visit you and your son or daughter needs a break, accept this offer. You will get some unexpected benefits because the children are a mine of energy, smiles and good mood.

In addition, the children who show you the latest victory in the video game they have finished or the newest books they read will keep you up to date with the new times. It is a win-win situation for both sides!
