The family cannot take care of the child with a heart defect – then the nurse immediately realizes what she has to do
Angela Farnan has been a nurse for over 30 years. She cared for many premature and sick babies in a pediatric intensive care unit.
While working at OSF Children’s Hospital in Illinois, a little boy who came into her care would change her life forever.
Blaze was born with a congenital heart defect called “Left Heart Hypoplasia Syndrome.” Just three days after he was born, his small body had to undergo complicated surgery.
A few months later he had to undergo the second operation. Angela was the one who stayed with him all this time.
Angela was one of the nurses who took care of Blaze, but the more time she spent with the adorable little one, the more she fell in love with him.
Blake’s biological family lived far from the hospital and faced great financial difficulties, making it difficult for them to come and visit him, let alone afford the child’s medical expenses.
Nurse Angela decided to take Blaze into her care and with her parent’s permission, she obtained short-term guardianship.
After the second operation, Blaze’s biological mother made a touching request to Angela.
The baby’s family wanted Angela to be the person to adopt their son.
“It was an extremely emotional day because my husband and I became very attached to him, and the moment when we had to give him back was getting closer and closer,” Angela told Good Morning America.
“[Blaze’s mother] told me that she and her husband want to talk to us about Blaze’s permanent adoption,” Angela added.
“She was crying and saying, ‘I don’t want anyone to think I’m a bad mother.’ I assured her that she had made the best decision as a mother and that there was no doubt that she would not love Blaze. ”
Now, Angela and her husband, Rick, are little Blaze’s happy parents. The couple is so in love with their adopted child, who they say has the sweetest personality.
“Becoming a parent for the first time is a feeling that cannot be described in words,” Angela confesses. “It was one of the most beautiful days I have ever lived.”

These husbands waited so long to become parents, but it seems that Blaze was meant to come into their care.
It must have been a very difficult decision for his biological parents to give up on him, but it’s great that Angela was there to love and cherish him.
