They thought they were rescuing a dog from a frozen river: but at the vet, they found out it wasn’t really a dog

Imagine yourself in a situation where you had to save a dog from the icy waters of a lake and discover, once you get to the vet, that it is actually a wolf. This is what happened in Estonia with two men working on the construction of a dam who, after hearing a sudden squeal, immediately entered the frozen river in Pärnu to save an endangered dog.

The men jumped into the water and rescued the animal, covering it with a blanket. As soon as he was taken to a veterinarian, it was found that he was by no means a dog, but a vigorous wolf, and this was not due to a visit to the doctor, but to a local hunter who had confirmed the species of the animal.

The wolf was very docile at the time, as his blood pressure was very low due to severe hypothermia, but once his body temperature was restored with blankets and an electric stove, he was transferred to EUPA (Estonian Union for the Protection of Animals). to be released into its natural environment.

Thanks to the two brave men who stood by the frozen river and the veterinary care, the wolf is now free to roam the beautiful snowy landscapes of Estonia, in its natural habitat that he was about to lose forever.
