This is a heartwarming tale of a strong and caring young lady and her horse. Nowadays, such a brave gesture, particularly by a teenage girl, is rarely heard.
Kelsey and her mother from Illinois were driving their trailer to their swap location. Fortunately, they took a different route that day. They were surprised to see an animal lying in the grass beside the road. They came to a halt to see what was there.
It was a weak, lean horse that was starving to death. They discovered whip marks on the animal’s body. Probably since this poor horse was unfit for work, the owner opted to abandon it on the side of the road. Who could have committed such a heinous crime? It was an inhumane act.
Another variation of this scenario was that the horse may simply flee her abusive handlers in search of nourishment.
Kelsey and her mother, on the other hand, acted quickly to assist the weak horse. They attempted but failed to load the horse onto their trailer.
So the brave girl devised a new method of assisting the horse: simply walking.
They walked back to Kelsey’s house, despite the fact that it seemed difficult to carry out that plan because they had to go nearly 9 miles. It took me four hours to walk back to my house.
The entire family then did everything they could to bring the sad horse back to life. Thankfully, they were able to save him.
The horse slept for nearly five days, which caused the entire household to be disturbed. Kelsey stayed at the stable all day, praying for the horse. The horse was spared thanks to God and her tireless efforts.
Sunny was the name she gave the horse. The horse did, in fact, bring a ray of sunshine into her life. They are now close friends who can’t picture living without one another. They both discovered love and common ground.
