Anyone who has ever owned a dog understands how devoted they can be.
They wait for you all day and greet you with a lot of tail wagging and body wiggles when you come back. When they “escape” your yard by accident, they wait for you at the front entrance. Some dogs will even trek hundreds of miles to find their owners. This commitment was demonstrated by a dog in Brazil in front of a hospital.
Christine Sardella assumed a dog lounging in front of a hospital door was just another stray when she saw him.
This dog had her perplexed because he was behaving so well. He even moved out of the way so that those entering and exiting the building could do so without having to step over or around him. She ended up asking a hospital employee who told her the heartbreaking story.
A homeless man was stabbed in a park on the other side of town, and his dog belonged to him.
EMS transported him to the hospital, but he died on the operating table. The dog followed the ambulance and waited for his friend to return by the exit door… He had no means of knowing his loved one had passed away.
The hospital employee stated that he had been there for four months and was afraid to leave in case his person showed up. The hospital personnel did their best to feed and water the dog, but he refused to leave the room for any reason.
Sardella was moved by the dog’s devotion to his master and wanted to help him find a better home. She was relieved that the hospital was providing for the dog’s basic requirements, but she believed he deserved more.
She contacted a rescue organization, who agreed to assist her in finding him a suitable home.
The dog had to be caught, which proved challenging for the rescuers. They were eventually successful, but he fled and returned to his post at the hospital door shortly after. He made it plain that he had no plans of leaving the area.
People assumed he was sad and had not yet moved on from his previous owner. Instead of forcing the dog to go, the rescue decided to let him stay. A hospital staff built a bond with the dog and intends to adopt him. He knew the employee well because he spent so much time at the hospital.
Before sending him home with his new family, the rescue organization is assisting the dog is getting his vaccines and performing some final health checks.
The dog has been through a lot, and it will take some time for him to recover from his loss of identity. His devotion is admirable, but it’s heartbreaking to think he’ll never see his person again. When the dog decides to leave, he may believe he has been left alone.
Sardella reacted to this by saying:
“It’s heartbreaking to think he’ll never see his owner again and will have no idea what occurred. The only option is to wait at the last location where he was seen.”
Hopefully, the dog will be able to find someone new to adore. This dog is more devoted than the majority of people. We can only hope that his new family reciprocates his feelings. He deservingly deserves a special home with a new family that will reciprocate his unwavering devotion.
Please tell your friends and family about this.
