She gave birth by C-section and was discharged, but at home her belly began to vibrate and she could no longer move.

In a Jordanian hospital, it was meant to be a regular cesarean delivery.

Ms. Hanan Mahmoud Abdul Karim, 36, realized something was wrong after giving birth to a healthy baby boy and returning home.

She stated she was in excruciating pain and her abdomen began to vibrate, according to the Dubai daily Gulf News, which cited Jordanian media.

Ms. Hanan was transported to the hospital, where X-rays revealed a foreign object in her abdomen.

According to the report, the foreign object is thought to be the Jordanian gynecologist’s cellphone.

The phone’s whereabouts in the belly are unknown.

Ms. Hanan gave birth to a 4.8kg son via cesarean section at a private hospital in Jordan’s capital Amman last month, according to Jordanian media.

“My daughter endured significant aches and was unable to move,” her mother, Ms. Majeda Abdul Hamid, told the media.

“I returned her to the hospital, where she was treated, but no further action was taken.”

Ms. Majeda went to a public hospital with her daughter, where an X-ray found the phone.

Ms. Hanan was operated on right away, and the phone was removed.

RESIGN

As a result of the controversy, a Member of Parliament has called on the government to resign. He was quoted as saying that the parliament should carry some blame.

Ms. Hanan’s story is “baseless and contrived,” according to Jordanian Health Ministry spokesman Hatem Al Azrae, who also stated that the ministry is closely monitoring it.
