After six weeks of pregnancy, Michelle Hui received the devastating news that she had miscarried her child. From that point forward, her world blurred into a nightmare.
She underwent five different scans to confirm the heartbreaking news, and then was given abortion medication to stop any infection from spreading throughout her body.
Then, Mrs. Hui was informed that she had blood clots in her womb that would be hazardous and needed to be surgically removed.

Michelle Hui, who had a miscarriage and taken abortion drugs, is shown holding her 18-week-old baby Megan, whom she had no idea she was carrying.
However, a check revealed a little heartbeat as medical professionals prepared to carry out this last treatment.
The shocked medical staff informed Mrs. Hui that she may carry the pregnancy to term because her baby had survived both the miscarriage and the abortion pills.

They claimed that while she had twins, only one survived and the other clung to life.
Doctors speculated that the blood clots may have cast shadows on the scan photos, hiding the remaining fetus.
The family of Mrs. Hui, 31, and her husband Ross, 33, welcomed Megan into the world in February.

She continues to thrive at home with her sister Mya, 4, and brother Noah, 2, weighing a healthy six pounds.
Since then, the family has been informed that Megan’s incredible story has been covered in medical journals.
The miscarriage and abortion, according to Mrs. Hui, were both horrifying. The 10 days that passed between the miscarriage and returning to the hospital are all that remain.
Then, however, I noticed this tiny heartbeat. It couldn’t be right, I reasoned. I didn’t want to get my hopes up after everything we had been through. You won’t believe it, but we have a heartbeat, the doctor announced after leaving the room and returning with a more experienced physician. The sensation was unparalleled.

Megan is now well. She is merely a large, healthy baby pudding. According to the doctors, it was fortunate. They are unaware of anything comparable. Someone had been keeping watch on us.
When she started bleeding while walking to work at six weeks pregnant, she worried that she was having a miscarriage.
Before determining that she had lost her baby, two different doctors had performed five scans at the hospital before she arrived.
Two abortion medications were administered to her, causing her womb to discharge the deceased fetus in order to prevent any infection. This procedure is known as a medical abortion because it doesn’t require surgery.
Additional testing revealed blood clots in her uterus, and doctors were about to operate to remove them when a scan revealed Megan’s heartbeat.
Medical abortions fail more frequently than surgical terminations, up to 14 out of 1,000 times, however some research claim it could be as high as 4%.
Additionally, the womb is not completely cleansed in one out of every 100 instances, necessitating additional medical attention.
The Sunday Mirror quoted Mrs. Hui of Co. Kildare, Ireland, as saying she was upset that the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin’s doctors had failed to identify the surviving fetus before prescribing the abortion medicines, which raise the risk of birth abnormalities for any live birth.
As thrilled as she was, she admitted, “I was furious they had missed her on the scans.” They said that because of the blood and clots, there may have been shadows that prevented them from seeing her.

It was a “exceptional instance,” according to Katherine Hales, a representative for the Association of Radical Midwives, which advocates for better maternity care in the NHS.
“I have very, very seldom heard of rare occurrences of a miscarriage of one baby and then seeing another on the ultrasound,” the woman admitted.
But this is something I’ve never heard of happening. I’m at a loss for a medical explanation; it must have just been luck.
The Rotunda Hospital declined to provide any comments.
