The reason this mother does not recommend the use of Facebook by young children – her life was ruined because of the mistake she made
The Internet is an almost infinite source of information, where we can find details about almost anything. Also, with so many social networks, distance is no longer a problem when it comes to maintaining contact and now we can meet a relative or a good friend at the touch of a button, via video. Photos, videos with loved ones, and posts in which we find the latest trends, unique locations to visitor reviews. In addition to the benefits that these social networks bring us, there are certain disadvantages that many people are not aware of. A mother felt her life ruined, shortly after her little girl created an account on the most famous social network, where not all people are what they claim to be.
The woman from Great Britain did not know what risks her six-year-old daughter was subjected to when she created a Facebook account. She was glad to see that her little girl was doing so well with technology and that she kept in touch with her friends of the same age using Facebook. Her list of friends was very short, she only had family members and her friends from school. At one point, she received a friend request from a stranger.
Everything was fine, the stranger had a decent profile, of a normal person, without raising any suspicion. On the profile of the six-year-old girl, there was a lot of information about her, such as her name, age, year of birth but also the school where she studies. That type of information might be valuable for some individuals with sick purposes.
Apparently, sometime after her daughter befriended that dubious person, the little girl disappeared. Following some investigations, a photo of the child was found on a website where she was .. “for sale”. The photo was from the Facebook profile, and the description looked like this: “American girl, only 6 years old! It costs $ 10,000!”. She probably came into the sights of dangerous people and they used the information provided on the Facebook page.
That would be the most logical explanation, given that she was last seen at school. When her mother went to pick her up from school, she was gone. The mother was deeply affected, she can’t describe the level of sadness she is feeling, she is still looking for her daughter and she wants to send a message to all the parents, saying how much care a parent must have with the content posted by the child and that the activity must be constantly monitored.
