Emil Knodell, a 67-year-old man from the American state of Texas, bought an old wardrobe from a man who sold his second-hand goods in the house. The marble and lacquer finish immediately caught his eye, and when he found out he was 125, the price of $ 100 seemed like a bargain.
As he loaded the closet into the car to take home, he heard a metallic noise coming from inside him. Knodell was surprised because he knew all the drawers were empty. On closer inspection, however, he discovered that there was a hidden compartment at the base of the closet. After she managed to open it, she was amazed to find a real treasure inside: gold jewelry with pearls and diamonds, letters, coins, and banknotes from the Civil War.
Emil Knodell said he never thought of keeping the objects. He went back to the person who sold him the closet, who told him that the piece of furniture originally belonged to his grandparents, but he did not know what treasure he was actually hiding.
