Queen Elizabeth is in mourning again half a year after the death of her husband, Prince Philip.

After the death of her husband, Prince Philip’s consort, Queen Elizabeth II is going through hard times again. One of Her Majesty’s best friends has passed away. Sir Timothy Colman, a close friend of the Queen and her cousin’s husband, died at the age of 91. Considered a hero of the Royal Navy, Sir Timothy Colman held the world record for fast navigation for years, was an explorer and businessman, and above all, he was with the Queen from a young age. His death comes months after that of his wife, Mary.

Mary, the Queen’s cousin, who died in January, was the eldest daughter of Michael Bowes-Lyon, the Queen-Mother’s brother, and spent most of her childhood with Queen Elizabeth II. She married Timothy Colman in 1951.

Sir Timothy Colman played important roles in the founding of the University of East Anglia, the creation of the Whitlingham Broad estate, and the Sainsbury Center for the Visual Arts.
