When friendship is sincere, neither size, nor age, nor even the barriers between species can stand in its way. It is also the case of an adorable Chihuahua puppy and a pigeon, both with disabilities, who laid the foundations of the strongest friendships of all time.
Find out their story below…
Lundy is a two-month-old Chihuahua puppy who, due to a spinal cord injury, is constantly struggling to recover and walk again; and Herman is a healthy pigeon that can’t fly.
The two survivors met at the headquarters of the MIA Foundation, an animal rescue center in New York, United States. Lundy took shelter a month ago when she was greeted by Herman, who has been in the care of volunteers for a long time.
From the first moment, the staff could see that something special was nestling between the two creatures, which soon became completely inseparable. One of their favorite hobbies is playing in a fluffy white blanket.
“I put Herman on a bed and went to look for Lundy. After that, I decided to place [Lundy] carefully on the same bed next to the puppy. They immediately started interacting in a very pleasant way, ”says Sue Rogers, founder of the MIA Foundation.
Herman and Lundy did not have an easy life.
The puppy was brought to the rescue center by a North Carolina breeder who realized that the puppy had trouble walking. Upon his arrival, the volunteers questioned the sex of the pigeon, because Herman treats Lundy like an extremely loving mother.
On the other hand, Herman is a permanent resident of the MIA Foundation. But Sue’s goal is to solve Lundy’s mobility problem with a wheelchair and find her an adoptive family as soon as possible.
The two are so cute!
“Lundy weighs only half a pound now, so we’ll have to wait for the wheelchair,” said Sue Rogers.
Their friendship is the one that maintains the optimism in this incredible couple and the hope that the little Chihuahua will recover his mobility and that he will be adopted by a large family.
In other circumstances, the two creatures could have had a sad ending because of their shortcomings, but fortunately, they received help from Sue, who devotes all her time to save the living creatures who came into the world with “disabilities,” many of whom will follow. to be euthanized without the intervention of those at the foundation.
“Our main goal is to help animals with disabilities. But people bring us birds, even injured squirrels sometimes “, the woman confesses.
Their friendship is incredible.
It is a great joy to know that there are still people with a good heart, willing to help the animals that need it most. Lundy and Herman will continue to spend wonderful moments together because there is no obstacle to a sincere friendship like theirs.
