His daughter asked him where her MOTHER was…

This single father chose to tell his life story on social media to encourage those who become, for various reasons, single parents.

“We are about 20 years old when my wife died leaving behind the memory of her and our little girl, Aurora.

Aurora was growing fast and filling my soul every day. Everyone is trying to tell me that the day is coming when my daughter will ask where her mother is. Everyone warned you it was going to be a hard day for me. I didn’t want to believe them, I didn’t want to go through this.

I had started to write on a piece of paper that I was going to tell him. Nothing came out of me. Every word I wrote seemed inappropriate to me. I tore up dozens of sheets, all of which ended up in the trash. There were no words to use to answer my daughter’s hardest question.

One summer evening, I was sitting with Aurora in my arms in the yard of my parents’ country house. I was trying to answer the most intrusive questions he asked. Why is orange juice orange? Whatever explanation I found, she wasn’t very careful.

At one point, she suddenly asked me:

– Daddy, where is mommy?

My heart stopped. I didn’t know what to say. My mouth was dry. I couldn’t think anymore. I foolishly said:

– It’s in heaven!

I’m not a very religious person, but that came to my mind for the first time. I continued:

“It’s there in the sky, beyond the stars!”

Aurora looked up at the sky as she bit into a finger.

– The moon!

– Yes, it’s the moon! Big and white!

– It’s Mommy’s Moon!

– What the?

– Mommy is on the moon to see me.

“Well, what do you think she’s doing there?”

– She’s fixing my toys. I hope she comes back!

Her logic surprised me. And that was all. She returned to her play. I would like to believe that my imagination has it, but I don’t think it’s true.

I think adults complicate everything, especially the simplest things.

It was complicated for me to explain the loss and mortality. For her, my daughter was simple, she looked up at the sky and found the answer. ”
