The woman in the pictures seems to be saying goodbye to the deceased old woman

After being seen on camera taking a ring from the body of a dead grandma at an Odessa funeral home, a Texas lady was arrested and charged with stealing from a human corpse. Kalynn Homfeld believed she could get away with stealing from the recently deceased 88-year-old Lois Hicks, but authorities were able to apprehend her.

1. WHO DOES THIS AWFUL THING?

The 41-year-old said she only needed to use the restroom at Homfeld Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, but surveillance footage clearly shows her entering into the room where Hicks’ body was laying in her casket and removing the ring from her finger before fleeing.

2. HOMFELD TORE THE VICTIM’S FINGER SKIN OFF.

According to Hicks’ daughter Vel, who informed CBS 7 that her mother’s wedding band had vanished off her finger, she was shocked. The robbery was all the more shocking because the family was still grieving and paying their final goodbyes to a dear relative. Vel told the Odessa American, “I can’t believe someone could be that low.” “It makes me sick.”

3. THE RING WAS ONLY WORTH $10 BY THE WAY.

While Homfeld probably expected to make a lot of money by reselling a diamond ring, the Associated Press noted that the ring was only worth approximately $10 in fact. I don’t know what else to call that if that isn’t poetic justice!

4. FOR HER CRIME, SHE WAS SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IN PRISON.

Homfeld was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to the accusation against her, according to The Dallas Morning News. That’s only a few months short of the maximum sentence of ten years she might have gotten. I’m hoping that ring was well worth it!

5. SHE BEGAN HER PRISON TERM IN 2016, SO IT WILL NOT BE LONG BEFORE SHE IS RELEASED.

Homfeld is currently halfway through her sentence. Hopefully, she’s taken use of her time in prison to review her life and get her act together (though it seems unlikely that someone capable of stealing a ring from a dead body would have any sense of perspective)
