Some people in life are willing to give everything they have just to serve others. It’s occasionally for the benefit of other people, but it’s also for the benefit of the truly helpless: animals. People with these kinds of hearts will gladly make a sacrifice or two if it means rescuing the creatures they’re attempting to save.
One of the best examples of this type of person is Mark and Sharon Starmer, who entirely uprooted their lives in order to provide a better life for their 46 rescue dogs.
In 2004, the couple welcomed their first rescue dog into the household, which was roughly 15 years ago.
The Starmers loved the sensation of helping their rescue, and after a short period of time, they had expanded their fur family to an incredible 46 canines! Technically, they expanded it to 45 rescue canines and one magnificent gray wolf.
In their tiny Alberta refuge, the family was content. At least, until the authorities in the providence handed them an uncomfortable ultimatum: either get rid of their beloved rescue dogs or pack up and join them.
Knowing that abandoning their beloved rescue dogs was not an option, the couple chose to uproot their entire lives and begin their hunt for a new home. They’re all 48 of them.
“Necessity fosters inventiveness,” they say, and the couple’s next move is proof of that! The pair had a fantastic idea when they started thinking about all of their rescues and how they deserved a good life. They would establish a real animal refuge to care for not only the creatures they already possessed but also to continue their rescue efforts.
The couple started looking for the ideal home and were fortunate enough to locate it!
The property, which was 4 acres in size and located in British Columbia, Canada, was pure dog heaven!
The couple bought the land and began construction on a massive enclosure where all 68 of their rescue dogs may run wild and free. These dogs couldn’t be happier in their new home, which is nestled in the beautiful countryside in a clearing surrounded by swathes of woodland.
The couple, it turns out, isn’t simply doing what they’re doing because they enjoy it; they’ve been called to it.
Mark discovered he had a rare ability to connect with angels 17 years ago in 2002, and they felt it was their calling. Even better, he discovered that not all angels take the form of humans. The couple believes that dogs can be angelic avatars and that the dogs they rescue are led to them in that capacity.
His convictions prompted him to publish the bestselling book Some Dogs Are Angels, and ultimately led to the establishment of his and Sharon’s animal refuge of the same name.
But Mark isn’t the only one with special abilities. Sharon, his wife, is also an energy healer, and they both feel compelled to aid these heavenly pets. Together, they scour North America, utilizing their skills to locate dogs in need and assist them in getting them back on track.
