The three-year-old dog “adopted” the bird, becoming its daily protector. The Peri hen came into the world blind and since she was very young she needed special care and attention from the owners to grow.

“Taj has become our hen’s watchdog. They spent the next few years together. He has been guiding and protecting her ever since. They sleep together, they sit in the sun together “, said Christa, their mistress.

Christa had the idea to adopt two pitbull puppies so that she and the hen could overcome the pain together. And not only on their part but also on the part of Taj, the family’s pit bull, who became irretrievably attached to it when he discovered his disability.

Over time, Peri became very attached to Gracie, one of the chicks, who became her new protector and also her best friend. There’s something extra about this: the bird has a hard time finding her toys, so whenever she can, Gracie brings them to her in person.

Gracie thinks that the toys can calm Peri down, and the hen is very grateful to her sister for that.

“She brings Peri a toy, puts it in front of her, and waits. When Peri goes outside the yard, nibbling, Gracie sits by the fence, waiting for her (Peri has a fenced area because we have a swimming pool) “, says Christa.
