Boys come across a malnourished pit bull dog left in an old sewer drain and vow to save him.

A dog is perhaps the worst thing to find in a sewer pipe drain of all the things you’d expect to find. That is not a good location for a dog to be.

That is, however, what happened to two young boys in Flint, Michigan. Tyler and Eugene, according to the account, were out on a routine walk across town.

Vacant lots can soon become covered with vegetation and provide some underappreciated views. When you live in a city full of concrete and metal, those tall stretches of grass, shrubs, bushes, and old trees are a welcome sight.

This, however, would not be a usual peaceful stroll through the grass and trees.

Tyler and Eugene soon came across a strewn-about notice. The sign exposed a 2-meter deep sewer pipe drain when they moved it over.

The last thing anyone wanted to see was a dog at the bottom of the hole.

A Pitbull stood at the bottom of the hole, staring up at them.

The dog was terrified, alone, and starving. It was still alive, but not for much longer if no one intervened.

On the poor thing, there was scarcely any muscle remaining. Under its skin, its ribcage and vertebrae could be seen clearly.

Tyler dashed back to his house, followed by Eugene. He told his father about the dog and asked for his assistance.

Even with the assistance of one of their fathers, two young boys could not securely get the dog out of the pit.

They didn’t have to do it themselves, thankfully.

They contacted police and animal rescue in Flint, Michigan, and the dog was eventually released.

When it comes to being at the right place at the right time, nothing beats it.

The puppy would not have been spotted if Tyler and Eugene hadn’t just happened to flip the sign over.

A massive sign resting flat on the pavement, on the other hand, can seem a little out of place.

How might this poor, sick, and malnourished dog be helped?

Mars’ physical condition was soon revealed to the foster household. Along with the obvious malnutrition, he had heartworm.

The brave canine received heartworm treatment, but regaining those pounds was not going to be simple.

Mars wouldn’t be back to his former self, or even close to it, for a long time.

Mars finally put those pounds back on after that period of time had gone. He had to give up a few teeth, but he was doing okay otherwise. Better still, he was adopted. All of this was made possible by Bully Love Rescue’s tireless efforts on Facebook.

His story was dubbed “From Hole to Home.” Isn’t that a very brilliant title?

Mars’ story serves as a reminder that every dog is worth preserving.

And, happily, there are plenty of nice people wanting to help!
