Kelly Osbourne has spoken out about the Parkinson’s diagnosis that her father Ozzy received.
The 35-year-old, her father, mother Sharon, and brother Jack made an appearance on Good Morning America (GMA) on Tuesday to talk about the health issues affecting the rock singer.
The “Shut Up” singer expressed concern during the interview that the Black Sabbath musician might never be able to walk again following a major fall in his toilet in 2019. The worst part of his illness, according to Ms. Osborne, was “seeing someone that you love suffer”.
There are days when I come into this house and I’m like, “There is absolutely nothing wrong with him,” and you think, “Oh my god he’s going to be fine, we are going to be leaving for tour next month,” Kelly said. “When I witnessed it firsthand, it’s very strange how this works,” Kelly said.
“The next day you return and nothing has changed, but he appears to be unable to get up off the couch and appears to be losing sensation in his arm.
The toughest thing is having to witness someone you care about suffer.
Kelly continued by explaining how her father’s Parkinson’s disease caused a change in roles within their family.
“We need to tell people to “snap out of it. Come on, let’s all recognize what’s going on here so we can move past this, she said.
And getting everyone on the same page took some time.
She did, however, claim that the diagnosis has now reunited the family, saying: “We’ve all rediscovered so much about one another, and it’s been confirmed how much we cherish and support one another.
“We didn’t know if dad would ever walk again at this time last year.”
Ozzy disclosed that he is currently taking a “host of meds” in a different interview with GMA. He also expressed relief at being able to talk about his condition.
“Hiding things is difficult because you never feel right. You feel bad. I’m not excellent at keeping secrets. I am unable to carry it around any longer. It seems like I’m out of justifications,” he added.
“I feel better now that I’ve admitted I have Parkinson’s,” the speaker said.
Parkinson’s disease, according to the NHS, is a condition where regions of the brain gradually deteriorate over a long period of time.
Parkinson’s disease is characterized by uncontrollable shaking of certain body parts, sluggish movement, and stiff, inflexible muscles. However, a person with Parkinson’s disease might also have a wide range of additional physical and psychological symptoms, including anxiety and despair, balance issues, and memory issues.
Kelly stated earlier this month that she was “sick” of the media rumors regarding her father’s health and disputed rumors that he was dying.
She said in her Instagram story, “Today I had a lovely start to 2020.
My family and I had lunch at a restaurant. I then laughed and hung out with my dad for the remainder of the day. As I go home, I read horrifying news about my dad, who is allegedly near death.
She continued, “The media sometimes makes me ill.
It’s no secret that my dad has had a difficult year with his health, but come on, this is complete BS.
