Sometimes the best ideas are born when we least expect them and light up like light bulbs when I don’t even think about them. A telling example is that of Alexander Tsao, a simple 16-year-old who, during one of his regular gym climbing sessions, stopped to look at the rope that supports him and asked what he could do with it. those that, once worn, inevitably end up in the trash.
After repeatedly finding that the ropes, once worn, end up being thrown away, Alexander decided to find a solution to put them back into use. Inspired by his dog Jinger, the 16-year-old decided to combine business with pleasure and had a brilliant idea: to turn worn-out ropes into a dog injury. In this way, not only will the functions be recycled, but animals from the shelters near his home in Redmond, Washington, will also become useful.
With the help of gyms that joined his initiative, Alexander began to tighten the ropes and from his savings created the first handmade leashes. He later put them up for sale on a site he created specifically for his project.
Proceeds from the sales were donated to several animal additions and charities. In just two years, Alexander has managed to sell 800 leashes, donating over $ 30,000 to all entities on his list. To date, this beautiful project of his is developed and supported by his non-profit organization, founded under the name Rocks2Dogs.
What motivates Alexander the most is his great passion for the animal world: “Helping animals is especially important to me and is what really motivates me. When people do not buy leashes, they are delighted not only to receive a quality product for their pet but also to contribute to animal shelters and environmental protection.
In addition to selling leashes, Alexander has expanded his project and created a line of sweatshirts and T-shirts, on which the Rocks2Dogs logos are printed, but he is not willing to stop here: he wants to expand the brand by including pet products, such as they would be harnesses and clothes.
In addition to doing a lot of good to animals, Alexander has been able to unite many people who strongly believe in his project and help him: “Gathering different groups of people to support a common cause can have a huge impact.”
