This teenager lost 176 pounds in order to donate his kidney and save the life of his younger sister

When 13-year-old Denise Coronado discovered that her kidneys were not working as they should, it was a real blow to the whole family. The episodes in which the little girl had to go on dialysis were very difficult moments, especially for her brother, Jonathan.

However, one day a detail appeared that represented a glimmer of hope: the older brother was a compatible donor and could have given him a kidney. Unfortunately, this was impossible because of his weight: Jonathan weighed almost 170 kg at the time.

Initially, the news threw the boy into depression. He had always been accustomed to being considered “oversized” and had always tried to avoid photos and mirrors because he didn’t like the way he looked. But the idea that the extra pounds kept him from saving his sister’s life made him feel extremely guilty. As a result, he made a drastic decision.

Jonathan began to follow a strict diet; he eliminated carbonated drinks, bread, and sweets, and began long walks in the park. The impact on his body was almost immediate. His sister’s condition gave him the strength to stick to his diet, and in a few months, he lost 45 kilograms.

In addition to his determination to achieve his goal, Jonathan began to feel more and more fit and self-confident. So he continued to lose weight, moving more and more. He quickly reached 88 kg, and the doctors’ answer did not take long to appear: he was ready to donate his kidney.

Today, Jonathan not only found the joy of living and feeling good in his body, but he literally saw his sister reborn. The transplant was successful, and the girl is a cheerful and sociable high school student who started going out and doing all the things that were forbidden to her during dialysis.

All this, thanks to the love and determination of a brother, who made his sister the most beautiful gift that can be offered: life.
